Welcome to Palates Fusion

So much has been written about PILATES, and the JOSEPH PILATES story is generally well known. Joseph Pilates formulated his exercise system, that gives the perfect balance of Strength and Flexibility in the 1920s. He experimented with Gymnastics, Weight Training, Circus Training, Yoga, Self-defense, Skiing and especially Dance, adapting relevant aspects. He proved their worth on his own body, which had been ravaged by long-term ill health, before teaching his technique to others.

The BASIC PRINCIPLES of PILATES are BREATHING, PELVIC PLACEMENT, RIBCAGE PLACEMENT, SCAPULAR MOVEMENT AND STABILIZATION, HEAD AND CERVICAL PLACEMENT.

These could be said to be the Basic Principles for the human body at any time and performing any activity. Opposing muscles - front body balancing back body muscles , and right side balancing left side - directly affects positions of joints and positions of body segments, which in turn present posture. Muscle balancing holds joints in the correct anatomical position which prevents/avoids wear and tear.

It is our belief that faulty alignment of joints and body segments adversely affects general health and well being. For instance, a depressed and compressed ribcage may affect the organs contained within impairing their performance. Misaligned joints increase wear and tear causing pain. Indeed, many people come to Pilates as an important part of their necessary physiotherapy. The wise may be encouraged to go for prevention rather than cure!

At PILATES-FUSION we aim to change the way you look, feel and move. Our mission is to Re-balance, Re-shape and Re-align your body making it longer, leaner, stronger and more supple. We encourage a focus, a "Being Present" and fully "Conscious" during sessions which we hope you will bring to all of your daily activities.
